Award-Winning Plant-Based Chicken Coming to 200 Northwest Stores

June 7, 2021 | Seattle, WA –  Rebellyous Foods, a company that creates groundbreaking manufacturing technology for plant-based meats, announced today the expanded availability of its award winning plant-based nuggets, as well as patties and tenders. Beginning this week the products will be available at more than 200 Safeway stores in the Pacific Northwest.

Rebellyous Nuggets, Patties, and Tenders are 100% plant-based with no cholesterol, antibiotics, or hormones, and less saturated fat than chicken nuggets. Safeway shoppers in the Pacific Northwest will be able to find the products in the freezer case for $5.99 ($6.49 in Alaska).

Rebellyous Nuggets made news last month for winning the New Product Award in the Plant-Based Protein category as part of the Specialty Food Association’s (SFA) 2021 sofi™ Awards, a top honor in the $158 billion specialty food industry.

“Bringing Rebellyous Nuggets, Patties, and Tenders to hundreds of Safeway stores in the Northwest is a proud moment for our team,” said Christie Lagally, founder and CEO of Rebellyous. “We look forward to bringing the Rebellyion to all four corners of the U.S. and beyond in the months to come.”

The expansion of the plant-based chicken products comes at a time when sales of plant-based foods are exploding. Sales data released in April 2021 shows that retail sales of plant-based foods have reached $7 billion, growing 27 percent in the past year. Additional consumer data found that some three-quarters of shoppers are choosing plant-based meat, most commonly beef and chicken.
