Award-Winning Plant-Based Chicken Coming to 188 Midwest Stores

Nov 8, 2021 | Seattle, WA –  Rebellyous Foods, a company that creates groundbreaking manufacturing technology for plant-based meats, announced today the expanded availability of its award winning plant-based nuggets and tenders. Beginning this week the products will be available at 188 Jewel- Osco stores in the Midwest. Jewel Osco is a supermarket chain in the Greater Chicago area. It currently has 188 stores across northern, central, and western Illinois; eastern Iowa; and portions of northwest Indiana. Jewel Osco and Jewel are currently wholly owned subsidiaries of Boise-based Albertsons.

Rebellyous Nuggets and Tenders are 100% plant-based with no cholesterol, antibiotics, or hormones, and less saturated fat than chicken nuggets. Jewel- Osco shoppers will be able to find the products in the freezer case for $5.99.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to bring Rebellyous Nuggets and Tenders to hundreds of Jewel Osco stores in the Midwest,” said Christie Lagally, founder and CEO of Rebellyous. “2021 marks the year of plant-based chicken and this remarkable moment is further evidence to that.”

The expansion of the plant-based chicken products comes at a time when sales of plant-based foods are exploding. Sales data released in April 2021 shows that retail sales of plant-based foods have reached $7 billion, growing 27 percent in the past year. Additional consumer data found that some three-quarters of shoppers are choosing plant-based meat, most commonly beef and chicken.
